Artist's Description
One afternoon I was painting this scene in the Caribbean when a native girl sat on the big driftwood tree under a shade tree. I saw her there on other afternoons also. She stayed in that position long enough for me to capture her in my painting. I ran into a bit of aggression from another Bri Bri native. This time a man when I took a coastal photo and he happened to be in it. The thinking is that I am capturing their soul. He was carrying a manchette and was quite angry. I deleted the photo in front of him and he calmed down.
Near the end of this painting the Bri Bri girl's boyfriend came over to see my painting. This fellow looked for a moment and then walked away.
